Foreign nationals employed for a prolonged length of time—typically more than a few months—in Indonesia are eligible to apply for the Working Visa, also known as the Working KITAS. This visa is the most complete work permit that is currently available; it allows the applicant to work, make money, create bank accounts, pay taxes, get a phone, and more.

You have to work for a business that is registered in Indonesia in order to be eligible for a Working KITAS. This firm might be an Indonesian owned company, a representative office, or a foreign owned corporation (PMA).

Time and Qualifications for the Working KITAS

Depending on your work description, the Working KITAS might last anywhere from six to twelve months. The Indonesian Ministry of Manpower gives its clearance. Generally, advisers are eligible for a 6-month non-extendable visa, however directors, commissioners, and senior managers are eligible for a 12-month extendable permit.

1. Document Submission: Fill out the KITAS application with all pertinent documents. These papers will be thoroughly examined by us to guarantee a successful application.

2. Application Submission: The Ministry of Manpower will receive the papers once they have been examined and confirmed in order to apply for the IMTA (Work Permit) and RPTKA (Expatriate Placement Plan).

3. DPKK Fund Payment: In order to obtain a work visa, an obligatory monthly payment of $100 USD is needed, which is known as the DPKK fund. The Ministry of Manpower should receive this payment in advance.

4. Visa Approval: The online immigration system will receive the Ministry of Manpower’s approval papers. The applicant will not need to pick up the visa from an overseas embassy since they will be issued an Electronic Visa (E-Visa) upon approval. Visa fees are non-refundable.

5. Entry into Indonesia: The E-Visa is now valid for the applicant’s entry into Indonesia.

6. Biometric Session: The candidate must finish a biometric session, which entails giving their fingerprints and submitting a profile photo, upon arrival.

7. KITAS Issuance: The applicant will receive their KITAS (stay permit) in three business days after it is issued.

8. Civil Department Registration: In order to get the SKSKPS (Certificate of Family Formation of Temporary Residents), and STM (Police Certificate). The applicant must register with the Civil Departments within 14 days of the KITAS being issued.

Frequently Ask Question

Can I apply for a visa in advance of traveling to Indonesia?

Yes, you may apply for a working permit even before you reach the nation. Before you travel to Indonesia, your E-Visa can be sent to you by email. You need to go to the Indonesian Immigration Office for a biometric session in order to complete your permission.

Which work titles are eligible for a Working KITAS for a year?

Director and Commissioner KITAS is guaranteed for a full year. Management positions can also be eligible, albeit Immigration has the final say on this. With few instances, a 6-month non-extendable KITAS is normally granted for non-management jobs.

During the procedure, is it required that I visit an Indonesian Embassy to pick up my work permit?

It will no longer be necessary to obtain a visa from an Indonesian embassy abroad as of October 2020. The Immigration Authorities in Indonesia currently provide Electronic Visas, or E-Visas.

What is the cost of the DPKK Fund?

The Indonesian Ministry of Manpower receives funding from the DPKK Fund to assist in the training of its own labor force. The monthly price is $100 USD and is non-negotiable. A 12-month KITAS, for instance, costs $1200 USD.

Can I change jobs and retain my current KITAS?

No, you cannot continue your current KITAS if you change jobs. You must get an Exit Permit Only (EPO), which ends your existing working visa. You will then need to start a fresh visa application with your new employment.

I have a working KITAS; may I work more than one job?

You may only work at the place and at the job that are listed on your KITAS.

If I decide not to prolong my Working KITAS, what should I do?

You must apply for an Exit visa Only (EPO), which will end your work visa, in order to cancel your KITAS. The EPO procedure moves quickly; it usually takes a few days. You have seven days from the time your EPO stamp is issued to depart the country. You have to apply for an Exit Re-entry Permit (ERP) if you have already left Indonesia.

What happens if a person overstays their visa?

If a visa is overstayed, there may be daily penalties, deportation, and removal from the nation’s blacklist. Maintaining the validity of your visa is essential. The fine for exceeding the allotted time was raised to one million IDR per day in 2019.
